Cheesy Hawaiian Roll Garlic Bread: Buttery, Gooey & Crowd-Favorite

If you’re looking for the ultimate quick side dish that gets devoured in minutes, this Cheesy Hawaiian Roll Garlic Bread is it. Buttery, garlicky, and stuffed with melty cheese, it’s like your favorite garlic bread — only softer, richer, and a whole lot easier.

The first time I made this was during a family pasta night. I’d planned to bake regular garlic bread, but all I had left were Hawaiian rolls. So I melted some butter, mixed in garlic and herbs, and stuffed the rolls with cheese. What came out of the oven was so good that no one even touched the pasta until the pan was empty. Now this cheesy pull-apart bread is a must-have alongside dishes like my Cajun Seafood Alfredo and Creamy Lemon Garlic Shrimp Orzo.

Tips for the Perfect Garlic Bread

  • Don’t separate the rolls before baking: Keeps them soft and cheesy inside.
  • Use real butter: Margarine won’t give the same flavor.
  • Add extra garlic if you love bold flavor.
  • Want spice? Sprinkle crushed red pepper for a kick.

Little tips like these are the same ones that make my Cheesy Scalloped Potatoes rich and irresistible every time.

How to Store and Reheat

Refrigerate: Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
Reheat: Wrap in foil and bake at 325°F for 10 minutes until warm and melty again.
Freezing: Not recommended — Hawaiian rolls lose texture after thawing.

Like my Christmas Bread Recipe, this bread is best served fresh out of the oven.

Flavor Variations

  1. Four-Cheese: Mix mozzarella, cheddar, provolone, and Parmesan.
  2. Garlic Herb: Add fresh basil or oregano to the butter.
  3. Bacon Twist: Add crispy bacon bits inside before baking.
  4. Spicy Jalapeño: Layer thin jalapeño slices with the cheese.

Frequently Asked Questions

1. Can I use regular dinner rolls instead of Hawaiian?
Yes, but Hawaiian rolls give that signature sweet contrast.

2. What cheese melts best for this recipe?
Mozzarella gives the best stretch, but provolone or Monterey Jack work too.

3. Can I prep it ahead?
Yes! Assemble it up to a day before and bake when ready.

4. Can I make it in an air fryer?
Yes, cook at 325°F for 6–8 minutes — just watch closely so it doesn’t overbrown.
